#OTD-ish 22 December 1968 Students at Gibbs ES enjoy piñata fun.

The photo caption states:

”Christmas activities at Gibbs School included a Christmas Program sponsored by the whole school, a class program given by Mrs. Bishop’s third grade class for parents, and the making and breaking of a piñata by sixth grade pupils.”

Your comments are welcome below. Did you, family members or neighbors attend Gibbs? Do you remember the piñata? Are you in the photograph? Do you recognize the students in the photograph? Do you remember Mrs. Bishop? You may comment privately here.

I thank Kimberly Springle, Executive Direction of the Sumner Museum, for sharing the record books with me. I also thank the former business manager at Gibbs who found the record books at the school, saved them and then gave them to Springle when she visited the school to collect materials before the school was closed. It makes me wonder what has been lost as the DC government has systematically closed and demolished public schools.
