This is the 2nd installment on Negro History Week in 1968.  Click here for the first post.

The program comes from Janney Elementary School, Wisconsin Avenue & Albemarle Street, NW.  It is for Negro History Week, 11-17 February.  It states that Mr. Elward was in charge of the Negro History Week celebration.

The program is from a 1967-1968 scrapbook that the Janney PTA made each year.  Clara V. Diehl, PTA Historian, compiled this "record book." The 1967-1968 scrapbook was the last one completed by the PTA.  It's full of photographs, newspapers articles, meeting minutes, etc.  great stuff!

I thank Lena Frumin, Janney's Enrichment Program Director, for letting me look through the scrapbook and take photos with my iPhone. She and Naomi Todd photographed the entire scrapbook--109 pages--and emailed it to me.

Did you go to Janney in 1967-1968?  Do you remember celebrating Negro History Week?  Do you remember Mr. Elward? Were you part of the PTA?
