The Latin American Youth Center, 1419 Columbia Rd NW, was founded in 1968.  

According to the LAYC blog, in the late ’60s there began to be a noticeable immigrant community in Washington, DC. [They] were primarily from the Caribbean nations including Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico..."  For a history of the organization, click here.
