#OTD 18 November 1968 Margaret A. Haywood, council member, attorney and Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority member, gave a speech at Ruth K. Webb ES (Mount Olivet Rd and Holbrook St, NE). She was one of the speakers for the “community day” program.

Haywood attended Cardozo SHS and Robert Terrell Law School. She also filed amicus briefs for what would become the District of Columbia vs John R. Thompson Co., which would uphold the 1872 law that outlawed whites-only policies in public accommodations.

Your comments are welcome below. Did you, family members or neighbors see Haywood’s presentation? Did you attend Webb? Did you work at Webb? Do you remember her as a council member? Did you work with her on the amicus briefs? Did you attend Cardozo with her? Terrell Law School? Do you have photographs? You may comment privately here.
