Photo source: Courtesy Charles Sumner Museum & Archives, Gibbs Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association Record Book, 1967-1968-1969. Photographer unknown. I forgot to note who created the record books. stay tuned!

I thank Kimberly Springle, Executive Director of the Sumner Museum, for sharing the record books with me. I also thank the former business manager at Gibbs who found the record books at the school, saved them and then gave them to Springle when she visited the school to collect materials before the school was closed. It makes me wonder what has been lost as the DC government has systematically closed and demolished public schools.

Don’t miss the shoes!
