#OTD 4 April 1968 In the afternoon, Washingtonians read in the Evening Star newspaper that Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would speak at the National Press Club (14th & F Sts NW) on Tuesday 9 April at 8:30pm. The first speaker in their new series of town meetings, King was invited to talk and answer questions about the upcoming Poor People's Campaign.
