#OTD 11 May 1968 The above organizers traveled in a volunteer car with a Poor People's Campaign poster affixed to it. Volunteers traveled throughout the city to publicize the campaign and to transport workers to multiple locations. Washingtonians, who knew the city, were central to the success of the campaign.
