#OTD 15 August 1968 Esther Stroy, a Woodson JHS student, won the 220-yard dash at the Amateur Athletic Union competition in Aurora, Colorado. She also competed in the 440-yard dash. A member of the Sports International Track Club, Stroy was trained by Brooks Johnson, athletic director at St. Alban's School.

A week prior, on 8 August, Stroy competed in the DC AAU Junior Olympics. In the 440, for 13 and 14 year olds, she won and set a record.
