#OTD 28 August 1968 It was the one-year anniversary of National Welfare Rights Organization activists staging a sit-in on Capitol Hill to demand welfare rights. It was the five-year anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. It was the 13-year anniversary of the murder of Emmett Till by two white men.
