This year marks the 50th Anniversary of prominent events in Black History founded on the principles of activism and social justice including Howard University protests that included a multiple day takeover of the A-building and advocacy for student’s rights and freedom of speech. In honor of this, Howard University's The Hilltop will hold their inaugural Bl(activism) conference. The conference will include a screening of the film produced on the 1968 protests, a panel discussion with former students involved in the 1968, 1989 and 2018 protests, an HBCU roundtable discussion and prominent activists/advocates of social justice today. The conference will be followed by an art exhibit reception commemorating black activism, culture and the inaugural conference.
