13 august 1968 & harris family gets house

#OTD 13 August 1968 The Harris family obtained a rehabilitated home. Pictured are John Harris, his spouse who is unnamed, and their children: Cynthia (age 8), Wendell (age 6), John (age 11) and Jeanine (age 4). The photograph appeared in the Evening Star newspaper. The caption stated that they were standing in front of "their rehabilitated home."

It is possible that they were one of 10 families that received a home from the Urban Rehabilitation Corporation created by the Washington Catholic Archdiocese circa 1968. Under this program, families were provided with affordable homes.

Your comments are welcome below. Did you, family members or friends know the Harris family? Do you recognize their home or neighborhood? Did your family receive a rehabilitated home in 1968? You may comment privately here.
